How long does a drift class in Buenos Aires really last?
This article is currently available in Spanish. A native English version is coming soon. Quick summary: Drift School offers two formats at an autodromo in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Drift Intro is 30 minutes total (about 15-20 min of active driving, 8-12 laps) for USD 300. Drift Experience is 60 minutes total (about 35-40 min of active driving, 18-25 laps, with edited video) for USD 500. In the 30-minute Drift Intro the net time behind the wheel is 15-20 minutes, around 8-12 laps. In the 60-minute Drift Experience you drive 35-40 net minutes, between 18 and 25 laps. The rest is briefing and debrief, which make the track time count.
How long does the full class day take?
Set aside a block of 90 to 120 minutes for the Intro and 150 to 180 minutes for the Experience, not counting travel. The track is in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, so it is best to keep half a morning or half an afternoon free.
What happens if it rains on the day of my drift class?
With rain the class runs as normal: the damp surface changes how the car behaves but does not prevent drifting, and many students find it easier to start a slide. The class runs in any weather.
Should I take the 30-minute or the 60-minute class?
Choose the 30-minute Drift Intro (300 USD) if it is your first time, you want to try before committing or it is a gift. Choose the 60-minute Drift Experience (500 USD) if you already have track experience or a previous class: active driving nearly triples and you go home with an edited video.
