Where to Drift Near Buenos Aires: Circuits and Tracks

Where to drift near Buenos Aires, no spin

If you live in CABA or Greater Buenos Aires and you are looking for somewhere to drift nearby, the honest answer is short: the only legal place is a circuit or a closed track. There is no public "spot" in the north, west or south zones. What follows is the real map of your options, measured in minutes and kilometers from downtown, plus how to get on track even if you have no car of your own and know nobody in the scene.

Three numbers to orient you up front: the Oscar y Juan Galvez Circuit is inside the City, about 30 minutes from downtown; the Roberto Mouras Circuit is about 60 km away, in the La Plata district; and our closed private track is 40-50 minutes from CABA. A 30-minute introductory class starts at 300 USD with a BMW E36 328i, instructor and all gear included. The number to book is WhatsApp +54 9 11 6833-3342, in Buenos Aires.

This article is the proximity guide. If what you want is the national circuit catalog, the 2026 event dates or how to join the community, we link the dedicated guides further down.

Can you drift on the street in Buenos Aires?

No. Drifting on public roads is illegal across Argentina, and Buenos Aires is no exception. It is not a gray area: doing slides, street races or donuts on the road exposes you to concrete and expensive consequences. Police can seize your car on the spot, and depending on the situation you can end up with criminal charges, not a simple traffic fine.

Beyond the legal side, there is the obvious one: the street has poles, curbs, pedestrians, parked cars and crossing traffic. A slide that gets away from you at a circuit ends in a grass or gravel run-off area; the same mistake on the street ends against something or someone. That is why the only serious answer to "where to drift near Buenos Aires" is: on a closed track.

The good news is that there are real legal options near the City, and they are not as far as you think. On to the map.

It is not the same as a learner driving track

When you search "track near Buenos Aires" Google mixes in a result that confuses a lot of people: the City Government learner driving track. Let us clear this up because it has nothing to do with drift.

The learner track is a Buenos Aires City facility for people to practice driving before getting their license — slow maneuvers, parking, first meters at the wheel. It runs on an online appointment and a token cost. During 2026 that track was relocated to Av. Roca 5252 because of the modernization works at the Galvez Circuit. It is a space to learn to drive, not to slide: you cannot drift there, not even as a test.

Drifting is only legal at an authorized circuit or a closed private track with proper organization. If someone offers you "drift" on a learner track or a public lot, it is neither legal nor safe. That said, here is the map of the options that do work.

Map by distance to CABA

We order the options by distance from downtown Buenos Aires, from nearest to farthest. Distances are approximate and depend on traffic and your exact starting point.

Galvez Circuit — inside CABA, ≈30 min

The Oscar y Juan Galvez Circuit is in the Villa Riachuelo neighborhood, inside the City, about 30 minutes from downtown depending on traffic. It is the largest and best-known circuit in the metropolitan area, with several track configurations. It is the historic home of track days and drift shows in the area.

Important for 2026: the Galvez is undergoing modernization works, which is why the learner track that operated next to it was relocated. Do not assume there is open drift activity there any given weekend — availability may be affected by the works. Before traveling, always confirm the date with the organizer of the specific event.

Roberto Mouras Circuit — La Plata, ≈60 km

The Roberto Jose Mouras Circuit is in the La Plata district, about 60 km from CABA, within Buenos Aires Province. It is a technical 4,265-meter circuit, heavily used for track days. The layout has corners of different radii, which makes it comfortable for practicing transitions and holding long slides without the top speed of a faster circuit.

It is one of the favorites of the Buenos Aires drift community precisely because it combines reasonable proximity with a layout that rewards technique. Track days are generally organized on weekends and announced in advance by the organizer.

Ciudad de San Nicolas Circuit — ≈230 km

The Ciudad de San Nicolas Circuit, in San Nicolas de los Arroyos, is about 230 km from Buenos Aires. It is no longer "near" in the sense of a comfortable round trip in a day, but it falls within range for a planned outing. It is a more compact circuit, with lower speeds, which makes it friendly for first slides on track before moving to bigger and faster layouts.

Our closed private track — 40-50 min from CABA

For our classes we work on a closed private track located 40-50 minutes by car from CABA, in Buenos Aires Province. We send you the exact location via WhatsApp once the booking is confirmed — it is a closed track we coordinate specifically for the class, not a public-access circuit. This gives us full control over safety: a layout prepared for drift, run-off areas and zero crossing traffic.

It is the most direct option if you do not want to deal with track-day calendars, sign-ups or the logistics of bringing your own car. You arrive, get into a prepared BMW E36 328i and drift with an instructor beside you.

What about the north, west or south zone? The honest answer

Many people from Greater Buenos Aires locate themselves by zone: "I am from the north zone", "I am in the west zone". So we will say it plainly: there is no legal, public drift spot by zone. There is no place in the west, north or south zone where you can legally go to slide unless it is a circuit or an organized closed track. Any video you see of people sliding on an avenue or a lot is illegal, and ends as we said: car seized and charges.

The real options are the ones above: Galvez (geographically toward the south of the City), Mouras (La Plata, south of the conurbation) and closed private tracks. Proximity is measured in minutes to the circuit or track, not in zone.

How you get on track with no car and no contacts

The most common obstacle is not distance — it is having no prepared car and knowing nobody in the scene. The most direct way to solve both at once is to take a class with the car included.

At Drift School (Racing Rental) the class includes everything: the BMW E36 328i RWD with a locked differential, a one-on-one professional instructor, a certified helmet, fuel, tires and the track contract. You do not need prior experience, a track license, or your own car. The Drift Intro lasts 30 minutes and costs 300 USD; the Drift Experience lasts 60 minutes, adds an edited video and costs 500 USD; and the Pro Driver Course is 5 sessions for 2000 USD for those who want to progress seriously.
